There was an initial perception in the Laptops Initiative schools that laptops were delicate and might not survive in busy, robust, school environments.
These concerns proved relatively groundless and, when combined with meaningful learning activities, attrition rates were very low. This was aided by good management and the Laptops Initiative schools have given us clear models and guidelines on how mobile technology can be effectively deployed and managed in second-level schools.
- A Mobile ICT Deployment Model – schools found this to be a very useful way of thinking about the deployment of mobile ICT to meet literacy needs in various teaching and learning contexts
- Mobile ICT: Organisation in Schools – practical arrangements developed by schools for the control, organisation and management of mobile ICT
- Hints-'n'-Tips – a range of general ‘Hints-'n'-Tips’ about the management of mobile ICT that were learned from the Laptops Initiative
